Rocky Landato, age 59, lost his courageous 1.5 year battle against pancreatic cancer early Monday morning August 7, 2017. Rocky grew up in Oklahoma, then moved to Chicago graduating from James B. Conant High School. In 1977, he moved to Arizona where he married and had two sons. He was employed in several places before settling on SRP for his career. Working his way up from warehouse worker to the power plant operations and finally as a system operator. Rocky Landato, age 59, lost his courageous 1.5 year battle against pancreatic cancer early Monday morning August 7, 2017. Rocky grew up in Oklahoma, then moved to Chicago graduating from James B. Conant High School. In 1977, he moved to Arizona where he married and had two sons. He was employed in several places before settling on SRP for his career. Working his way up from warehouse worker to the power plant operations and finally as a system operator. He volunteered his time to charity projects such as Ronald McDonald House, Toys for Tots and active in the SRP booster club. He retired in March of 2017 after 26 1/2 years working for SRP. In 2002, he met and then married his soul mate - Lizbeth. His greatest pride are his sons -Tony and Jon and his grandkids! Rocky loved learning, reading books on science, mathematics and self improvement. His hobbies were diverse, he loved music and learned to play many musical instruments- guitar, ukulele, keyboard, didgeridoo, harmonica, Indian flute & drums. He also loved motorcycles, travel, history, scuba diving and zip lines! Always a good friend and good man, reaching out to help others, he touched the lives of so many. His strength, compassion and spirit were an inspiration to us all. He is survived by his wife-Lizbeth, mother-Mary, sister-Faith, sister-Kellie, brother-Tony and grandchildren- Skyler, Bella, Casey, Marcello, Ellie, Bryce, Rowan, and Kamdan.
